The Reemergence of Bedlam Abbey

April 6th, 2006

Well things have settled down a bit and some new developments have caused us to rethink the situation and thus we have some new additions to the group.

First off Mark is still around, but in addition, we have a new family member that will be joining us on Vocals and possibly keyboards. Kathy's daughter Stephanie!! At 15 she has come of age and finding her voice, the one we've known she has possessed for years. As her experience grows so will her talent but be prepared for a nice addition to the Abbey. Someday Sara (age 5) and Matthew (age 11 mos.) may join us but I suspect that may be a bit into the future.

Next is a friend that has been around for a while but now is going to be participating in our next recordings too. Dawn Landers is an accomplished vocalist with a background in opera, choirs and madrigals. She is also an instrumentalist on oboe and currently a student of mine on mandolin.

Lastly, we are very excited about this one, is David Kempers. This incredibly talented violinist has a resume that makes most people look like they have been standing in one place all their lives. He spent 6 years in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and has recorded over 55 CDs with well known artists such as Yes, Johnny Cash, Vince Gill, ELO, Mel Torme, Depeche Mode, John Tesh, Meatloaf and more. He has also travelled the world in several symphony orchestras as Concertmaster. He will also add his talents on keyboards.

Whew!!! Maybe it's just me but I am VERY excited about the possibilities we have. However there is one drawback. Bedlam Abbey is resolved at this stage to be primarily a recording group (see Steely Dan) and the potential for live performances are not currently under consideration. That may change but for now we are concentrating strictly on Music CD production.

We are on Hiatus

January 20th, 2004

As you can see we have been very idle lately. The fact is that this being a part-time situation (even though we wish it were otherwise), it has become more and more idle of late. With the holidays, life, children, other projects and work it has bcome harder and harder to get together and to find performances. And I have been doing this group for about 11 years, my wife Kathy for almost that much and it has come time for a short break. I fully intend to continue on with this group in the near future after I get some other projects out of my system (musical mid-life crisis as it were).

The prospects of another CD are possible too if sales of the first 2 justify the project. We have 6 or so tune just dying to get out on to a recording. The possiblity of MP3 singles for dowload sales could happen as well. Keep watch…

Sad news

October 20th, 2003

Sadly for all, Michael and Jeannie have decided to leave the group. Due to their lives becoming more complicated they have chosen to bow out for now. Jeannie has a new husband and a lot of travel in her future and Michael has his solo career plus many hours of teaching at Arapahoe Community College that limits his free time. Odds are if we have a performance where we need them and they are available they will make a brief reappearance.

You can keep track of Michael via his website: Many Hats Recording

We will miss them!

As you can see we have revamped EVERYTHING and made it more functional. Some things are still in the works but will be working soon.
